Two years ago we started to work with a mentor. Our mentor, Ilise Benun from Marketing Mentor, was initially hired on to help us build our marketing tools. I know, that sounds crazy, we are a communications firm for goodness sake. But the reality is that when you are a busy firm – you never take the time to work on your own marketing needs – the shoe makers daughter so to speak.

We are lucky. Many clients come to us by “work of mouth” and referrals. But a business that relies on referrals is foolish and we knew that. Ilise forced us to dream and build and put the pieces into place to consistently market to our audience. She forced us to work on our business as opposed to working in it all the time.

This blog, for example, was never a priority until Ilise came along. Her guidance kept us accountable to our own business.

This month K9 Design moved into a new studio space that we designed from scratch. We dreamed it and it happened.

The flowers in the picture were sent from Ilise today to congratulate us on our new space and growth. She said she was thrilled to have had a little part in our success.

I would like to dedicate this post to you Ilise, without your patience and guidance there would probably not have been a new studio. You helped us to focus more than you will ever know.
